An octopus escaped from its tank at a New Zealand aquarium, crawled across the floor and into a pipe that led to the ocean
The manager of the National Aquarium of New Zealand says Inky the Octopus found a weak spot in his tank and got away.
The smart sea animal squeezed out of a small gap at the top of his tank, slithered across the floor of the aquarium down a sea-water runoff pipe to Hawke's Bay, and on to freedom.
Octopus are known to be very intelligent, curious, and like to push boundaries.
An all-points-bulletin will not be put out for the escaped invertebrate. Officials expect Inky is most likely roaming the sea floor, back in his natural habitat.
